For music lovers who have bothered to access the Music From The Centre Of The Earth online channels, it is no doubt a refreshing, unique pathway to captivating popular music from Ghana served by way of clear, clean sound and visuals.

An initiative of Dr Kwesi Owusu and Kwame Yeboah and available on Facebook and Youtube, legendary highlife star, Pat Thomas and an offshoot of the fantastic Wulomei folkloric group have so far been featured and audience feedback has been extremely encouraging.

“The whole concept is that we are in this Covid-19 era where musicians have very limited opportunities to perform live; all the entertainment places are closed and musicians can’t tour. So we have only created an outlet for musicians to go online and reconnect and stay in touch with their audiences again, says Dr Kwesi Owusu, Director of the series.

“So reaching out virtually is us bringing our experiences together to continue promoting our musicians and ensuring they continue to feed both local and international audiences. ”

Kwame Yeboah is a recording engineer, multi-instrumentalist and music producer. He has produced and played with world-class acts including Craig David, Cat Stevens, Osibisa, Kojo Antwi, Shaggy and Tony Allen.

Dr Owusu is a writer, filmmaker and concert producer. He has written extensively about the arts. As a concert producer, he has organized shows that featured first-rate performers like John Legend, Luciano, Seun Kuti, Salif Keita, Pat Thomas, Mahotella Queens and Courtney Pine.

“As professionals, we make sure we only produce the best. Our key objective is to present the world the best in its original form. We are not able to offer big sums of money for any artist to perform but they understand the situation. It is a collaboration for the benefit of the artists as they are able to engage their audiences and show they are still active,” Dr Owusu pointed out.

According to him, several acts eager to be on the Music From The Centre Of The Earth online channels have made approaches and it would be great for sponsors to come on board to help promote Ghana’s wonderful popular music.

Singer Kwabena Kwabena is the next scheduled act for the Music From The Centre Of The Earth. He is hard at rehearsal with Kwame Yeboah’s band for the show.

“With the recent distractions around him, one may assume Kwabena Kwabena would not be in the best frame of mind to sell Ghana through his music but I have seen the rehearsal and the man is in fantastic form. All should look out for him,” Dr Owusu added.
